Taste of Texas ~ San Antonio

The bare arid land cut by the highway crossing southern Texas is now thick with prickly cactus, low shrubs, and hardy trees.

Driving towards El Paso, I’m reflecting on our time in San Antonio. It wasn’t a lengthy visit, but a memorable one. The day’s experiences float in my mind; here are some highlights:

~ Walking through the Alamo, where Texans and Tejanos fought for their freedom.

~ Waking up feeling rested in the supposedly haunted Emily Morgan Hotel. Rumour has it, according to the hotel’s concierge, that the hotel is visited by unrestful spirits, who hover by the Alamo, located adjacent.

Legend has it that Emily Morgan, the Yellow Rose of Texas, was a Texan spy that helped distract the Mexican president as Texans staged an attack and paved the way towards independence.
